Solar Art installed 3M window film to a home in San Francisco, California! We are lucky enough to get to do window film installations to beautiful homes that have spectacular views, and this home is no different! Almost every room in the home overlooks the San Francisco city. With that being said, there are floor to ceiling windows in almost every room so the homeowner can enjoy and get the most out of the city views. The homeowner does have shades installed to some of the rooms in the house to help with heat, but they don’t like to use them because then they lose their spectacular views. They had window film installed years ago for heat, glare and sun fading issues and they absolutely love it. They still have the ability to completely enjoy their views while reducing heat and glare throughout the home. The homeowners window film was installed years ago and has been weathered over time. The customer was interested in getting a fresh layer of the same exact window film installed to their home. They couldn’t remember who did the original installation, but they did some research online for window film companies when they came across Solar Art. Our field estimator met with the customer at the home and brought different solar film samples with him. Typically, we bring samples so the customer can choose which one they like best. This customer was a little different because they already knew what window film they wanted. Our estimator brought the samples so he could try and match the customer’s existing window film. This is a little tricky to do because the window film has been installed for so long that it’s been faded from the sun over time. However, our field estimator was able to match the customer’s existing to a 3M window film. Specifically, 3M Prestige 50. This 3M window film works great for the customer and what their needs are because it is a heat reducing window film, a glare reducing window film and it is going to help protect the customers belongings from sun fading. This 3M window film has low reflection, which is why the customer's view isn’t compromised at all. It blocks 56% of heat, 44% of glare and 99% of UVA and UVB rays. Blocking 56% of heat is a substantial heat rejection that will make a noticeable difference in the temperature of the home. It will ultimately result in energy savings as the homeowner won’t need to use the air conditioning as much. Blocking 44% of glare will also make the home more comfortable as the annoying glare will be blocked from computer and TV screens. Finally, blocking 99% of harmful ultraviolet rays extends the life of the customers furnishing and belongings because these harmful rays are the largest component of sun fading. Once the estimate was approved, our installation crew went onsite and removed the old layer of window film with a fresh new layer.
