Solar Art installed skylight window film to the Westfield Mall in Santa Ana, California! The mall was built with a lot of skylights to let a lot of natural light into the mall and keep it bright and welcoming all day. While the skylights to let a lot of natural light in, one downside is the amount of heat they let in. The inside of the mall was frequently hot, stuffy, and uncomfortable for customers walking through. The customer was looking for a window film that would reject the maximum amount of heat as possible to not only increase comfort, but lower the electricity bill. In order tot ry and mitigate the heat problem, the customer turned to the air conditioner to keep the space cool, which costs a fortune because of how big the mall is. With that being said, the customer was looking for a way to make the building energy efficient to help reduce electricity bills and keep workers and shoppers in the mall comfortable. They reached out to Solar Art to learn what different window film options they had for the skylights throughout the mall!
Solar Art's goals for this project were simple: meet with the customer to learn what they were looking for exactly, and help them find a window film that will accomplish their goals. Our sales representative from our Orange County office met with the customer at the mall to take a look at the skylights in person. It's very important for a sales representative to take a look at skylights in person to make sure they know what they are made out of. Often time skylights are made out of plexiglass, which certain window films cannot be applied to. There is a special window film that can be applied to plexiglass, which is why it's so important to know what your skylights are made of. When it came to the Westfield Mall, Solar Art had a sales representative do a site visit to confirm the skylights were glass or plexiglass to ensure we get the right window film for the project. Once it was confirmed the skylights were glass, our sales team worked with the customer to find the window film that would best meet their needs for this project.
Since the skylights were made out of glass and the customer was trying to reduce the maximum amount of heat as possible, our sales representative suggested an exterior window film, specifically a Hanita solar film. He suggested this window film because it has high heat rejection, high glare rejection, would help increase comfort, and lower the electricity bill for an affordable price.
After meeting with our sales representative, hearing his suggestions, and learning about the different skylight window film that is available on the market, the customer decided to take our sales representative's suggestion! They moved forward with the Hanita solar film that rejects 77% of heat and blocks 99% of harmful UVA and UVB rays. The customer let us know that they immediately noticed a significant difference in temperature and said the mall was much more comfortable. Skylight window film can easily be removed with no damage to the glass surface if need be. In addition to skylight window film, Solar Art also services decorative window film, anti graffiti film, security window film, building wraps and custom graphics in Washington state and California.
